Agent Memory Key
Your AI's memory of you — owned by you.
Agents forget. Every new chat starts cold, so you re-introduce yourself: where you live, what you like, who's in your family, how you work. The alternative today is worse — pasting your life into a cloud chatbot and hoping for the best. People want to give agents real context about themselves; they just don't feel safe doing it.
What it will be
- Plain Markdown on your Mac. Your "about me" lives as ordinary files in a folder you own — readable in any editor, including Obsidian. No proprietary blob, no export button needed. If you ever leave, your files are still just files.
- Starter categories, not a blank page. Pre-built notes for the things agents always need — About Me, Addresses, Preferences, Family, Travel — so filling the vault feels like a checklist, not homework.
- Folder-level grants. Give an agent Preferences and Travel for this session and nothing else. The grant screen is planned as a folder tree with checkboxes — if you can pick folders, you can scope an agent.
- Search inside the grant, and receipts after. Retrieval is planned to look only at folders you've granted, and each access lands in the audit trail — so you can see exactly what an agent was shown, then revoke in one step.
- Import only. Nothing reaches out. Bring notes in from an existing folder or Obsidian vault with a review step, one time, one direction. No live sync with outside services.
Why local matters here
Your memory file is the most personal document you'll ever write. It doesn't belong on someone else's server, and it shouldn't be pasted wholesale into chat windows. The plan is the same pattern Agent Master Key uses for credentials: keep the real thing local, give agents scoped access you can watch and kill.
